Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes, the diamonds made inside a lab are genuine diamonds. Both lab grown and natural diamonds have the same optical and chemical properties. Both types also adhere to the 4Cs: carat, colour, clarity, and cut. The only difference between natural and lab grown diamonds is how they're made.

How are they made?

Natural diamonds are created when a piece of carbon is affected by incredibly high levels of pressure and extreme heat underneath the earth's surface for millions of years. Experts imitate these conditions to create lab grown diamonds in much shorter times. After just a few weeks, a rough diamond is formed.

This gemstone is then cut and polished according to your requirements. It's placed into a delicate jewellery setting, packaged into one of our stunning gift boxes, and shipped straight to your door.

Can you tell the difference?

You can't tell the difference between lab grown and natural diamonds with the naked eye. They have the same clarity, cut, colour, brilliance, and sparkle. You don't need to worry about if people will be able to tell your diamond was made in a lab. Not even an expert gemologist can tell the difference between the two just by looking at them.

It takes a diamond specialist with the help of highly sophisticated equipment to be able to tell the difference between a natural and a lab grown diamond.

Are lab grown diamonds as strong as natural diamonds?

In the same way lab grown and natural diamonds look the same, they're also equally strong, durable, and hard. Because they're chemically identical, both types of diamond score a 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Whichever type of diamond you choose, it's guaranteed to stand the test of time.

Lab grown diamonds

Which one is cheaper?

Lab grown diamonds are cheaper than their natural counterparts. This is because growing diamonds in a lab requires fewer overheads than mining diamonds from the ground. And since lab grown diamonds are cheaper to source, we pass our savings on to you.

If you've got a small budget to work with, a lab grown diamond is an excellent choice.

Which is best?

There are hardly any differences between natural and lab grown diamonds. Neither one is better than the other. The only real difference between the two is that natural diamonds are created underground and lab grown diamonds are made in a lab. The type of diamond you select is a very personal decision and is ultimately your choice.
